The Traditional Way.

So you like to learn in the traditional fashion of being in a physical classroom? The classroom has been a tried and trusted way for many years and is an obvious choice for many candidates. If you choose this method, you can expect to attend a training centre for around five days, learning the ins and outs of what it entails to be a Domestic Energy Assessor. Your tutor will guide you through the training manual, and you get to ask any questions you have answered there and then. You can expect to have a mixture of theory and practical lessons. Theory lessons will consist of Health and Safety, Data Protection, and an Energy Performance Certificate's essential features. In practical lessons, you will be in a real house, getting hand-on experience on who to conduct an EPC assessment. Does this sound like the option you would choose? Maybe, but you may want to consider the other ways to study an EPC Course.

Study An Online EPC Course!

Distance learning has been around for many years – think of the Open University. Similarly to people have studied for degrees, it is also possible to complete and Online EPC Course. So, the obvious question is, how does it differ from the course at the training centre? In essence, it is precisely the same course. You will have access to all the same material, but you will access it from an online portal. Do you already have a day job? Is taking a week off work, not a practical thing to do? Using a distance learning course, you can study in your own time; it could save you a lot of money. Will it take longer to qualify? Maybe, or maybe not. If you have many transferable skills you can learn the things you need to and not waste time on this, you already understand.

A Blended Option?

The last option we will look at is a blended learning experience. You go to the training centre for one or two days, then complete the course through distance learning. By attending for a day or two, it can give you that confidence to start something new. It doesn't mean you need to take a week off work, and when you have whetted your appetite for the course, you can complete it in your own time. The days you attend the training course tend to be a more intensive experience. You will be focusing on how to conduct an EPC whilst completing theory work via distance learning.

It's A Personal Choice How You Study For An EPC Course.

In conclusion, there are different ways to complete an EPC course. If you prefer meeting a tutor face to face and being in a physical classroom, the 5-day course will be for you. On the other hand, if you have work commitments and want to complete the course in your spare time, then an Online EPC Course is a great option. The bit in the middle – a short one or two day course followed by distance learning is becoming an increasingly attractive option. There are many ways to become a Domestic Energy Assessor, but it will always come down to personal preference. Whichever you choose, all pathways lead to the result – you can produce Energy Performance Certificates.
